The main theme of the project ‘The music Connection’ was exploring cultural diversity through music.

Four different countries are involved in this project; France, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands. Each country takes part with four participants and one group leader, all between the age of 18 to 25.

Music can be identified as a connecting point that brings together young people from different cultures. This youth exchange provides a multicultural playing field for participants to explore the richness, diversity and uniqueness of different cultures trough the universal language of music.

During the exchange we offer 20 young musicians the possibility to create their own band, to practice and to organize a public concert themselves. Final result of the project will be creation of their own CD. The CD will be produced in a large number of copies and distributed to participants, partners, local audience, supporting organizations and anyone who is interested. In this way, the project will introduce cultural diversity in a very original way to a great number of people.

Goals:
I: To experience music as a mutual way of working on reconciliation, peace, respect and understanding

II: Offering the participants, their social surrounding, the volunteers, the local community of Zwolle and anyone else involved or interested the opportunity to experience unity through diversity.

III: Promoting the Youth in Action program among a large number of youngsters from the local communities.

IV: To stimulate intercultural learning and peer-to-peer education

V: To develop structured actions in which youngsters actively participate and contribute to the social environment
